Character: Deucalion
Canon: Teen Wolf
Version: Television series verse.
Canon Point: 3x8 "Visionary"
Age: 40's in human years?
Gender: Male.

History:
In his earlier years, Deucalion was a normal Alpha with a normal Pack. He frequented visits to Beacon Hills for advice from the rare Talia Hale. He, among many other werewolves, admired Talia. Not only for her Pack of bred wolves, but for her rare ability to transform into a full wolf. He trusted in her and her guidance, like many others and seems to enjoy her company.

He seemed to have a very idealistic view of the world. After one of Ennis' betas was killed by a hunter in retaliation for killing a hunter, he wanted to prevent an all out war. This desire led him to seek Gerard Argent out to forge an alliance with the Argent hunters and the local Packs. He foresaw a world where the two opposing forces could live together in something akin to harmony, instead of the constant tension and animosity.

He met with Deaton and Talia to discuss his intention to put into play his vision of peace. He is baffled by their reluctance to support his ideal, going so far as to question their faith in people. Even after Deaton compares Gerard to the Scorpion, he still believes he can convince the Argent hunters to take up his offer.

Deucalion and three of his betas met with Gerard in a distillery with a few of the hunters, with the promise of peace. The werewolves and most of the hunters there truly wanted peace, but Gerard would have none of it. He gassed both the wolves and his own people, killing them with a bat covered in curved spikes—resembling claws—so as to blame Deucalion and his wolves. Making it look like the wolves attacked the hunters and killed them, he went after Deucalion in the end. Deucalion asked him not to do this, that he had a vision of peace. Gerard scoffed at the idea and blinded him in an attempt to kill him.

Escaping barely with his life, he finds himself in the caring hands of Deaton and Talia. The Hale Emissary attempts to aid in his recovery, but determines that Deucalion's eyesight will not return, despite his eyes having healed (for the most part) from the injuries. His mood plummets after being betrayed and tricked into a trap by the elder Argent. In his mental collapse, he demands to be alone. However, one of his betas, Marco, refuses to leave him. When alone with the beta, Marco attempts to take his life, deciding that Deucalion is no longer able to lead them in his weakened state. It is then, while defending himself from his own beta, that he realizes he is still able to see with the eyes of his wolf. A glowing, red, bloody mess is all that’s left of his once lovely blue eyes.

The events of that day; Gerard betraying him when he had so much faith in the prospect of peace, shattering his idyllic world was the first event to twist his once good nature into something more sinister. It left him weak and wounded. Not just physically, but emotionally as well as mentally. His trust was broken and part of his Pack was slaughtered before his very eyes, unable to defend themselves. This man mocked his ideas of peace and even blinded him as he admonished him for his vision. Not long after healing from his wounds and learning of his new handicap, one of his own betas turned on him. Double betrayal. Any hope for the world that he had left was torn away when his own Pack would try to dismember him for power in his moment of weakness.

Killing his beta gave him power beyond that of just having a Pack. It was a whole new level of untapped potential just waiting for him to seize it. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. This discovery led him to taking the lives of his remaining betas. Something about that surge of power in a newly discovered world where power and strength is the only thing that can thrive changed him.

He later confronted Ennis and Kali with his discovery and proof of his power. The man who had once tried to disarm Ennis and prevent a war was now setting a path of destruction before his former acquaintances. Kill your Pack for the ultimate strength. They did, and he brought them all together under his guidance.

When given the order to kill her pack, Kali found herself struggling with her conscience when she eventually reached her Emissary, a woman whom she cared for deeply. She couldn't understand why it was necessary to kill her human confidant. Giving in, she left her Emissary to die, joining Deucalion.

It was Deucalion and his new Pack that helped the twins, Ethan and Aiden, discover their potential. The boys were abused and mistreated among their peers and betters until Deucalion taught them how to form a power to be reckoned with. He then turned them loose on their former Alpha and Pack. They tore each and every one of them apart, including their own Emissary. After this, he brought them into his new All Star Alpha Pack.

Upon hearing of a Kanima in Beacon Hills and a new Alpha, they visited their old 'playground' and found Derek and Scott along with their respective ‘Packs’. He took note of Derek Hale's new strength, but was more interested when he found a spark of something in Scott McCall. The reluctant werewolf had potential beyond what he could have hoped. And he wanted that potential for his Pack.

Under the guise of desiring Derek, he kept an eye on Scott. He craves perfection and having a True Alpha in his Pack would be the ultimate prize. However, if Scott were to kill his own 'Pack' or another Alpha, he would lose his ability to tap that potential. As much as he wants Scott to join him, if he refuses, he will make sure to destroy that potential and prevent Scott from becoming something so unique by forcing him to kill.

Personality:
Unlike his more sinister future self, the Deucalion of the past is more akin to the idealistic good guy. He tries to see the good in people, even when they don't actually have any. He has faith that people will use common sense and see reason, even if they aren't known for making rational decisions. He just wants peace between the wolves and hunters. He knows the hunters don't discriminate Packs, but they do take note of motive. At least, most that follow the 'code' do. His view of the world seems to be through rose-colored lenses.

When attempting to arrange peace between the wolves and the Argents, Deaton brings Gerard’s nature to his attention, but he brushes it off. He believes he can make Gerard see reason because there will be losses on both sides. Certainly Gerard wouldn't want to see losses on his side as well. He is, unfortunately, proven very wrong when Gerard shows his true nature and attacks his own men along with the werewolves. Deucalion’s shock is evident in his reaction to Gerard murdering his own men.

He's calm and levelheaded, thinking things through before reacting. He can separate himself from a situation and calculate the losses of the main outcome. This is shown when he attempts to talk Ennis down from his hotheaded need for revenge of his dead beta. He states that "a skirmish becomes a war, a battle becomes a massacre, and we end up no better than our enemies". He understood the feeling of loss for a beta, but that beta killed a hunter and if they kept killing eachother in revenge, it would never end.

This is not to say that he won't defend himself if he is attacked directly. Death is something he would like to avoid, but will resort to if the need calls for it. He merely prefers more peaceful methods if they are available to him. When attacked by his own beta, he didn't hesitate to defend himself and take the life of his beta, so his good nature only goes so far before he is forced to abandon it.

He seems to display very likeable leadership qualities, and only has one beta that tends to stop out of line. He's protective of his Pack, warning Marco against antagonizing Ennis, knowing the Alpha's explosive nature. Some of his Pack stands behind him when he goes to negotiate peace with the hunters, sharing his idealism.

He isn't above a little game to test the skills of others. He would also willingly divulge information to the enemy if they were able to meet his criteria. He tends to be quite true to his word when he gives it. He doesn't shy away from a challenge as he's very confident in himself and his abilities.

The Deucalion of the future/present possesses many of the same characteristics, with one very important difference; he is no longer so idealistic and naïve. He tends to see things in a more cynical or realistic view. The rose-colored shades are off, replaced with sightless sunglasses. Mostly sightless.

While he seems calm, standing back and allowing everything to chance, he has actually loaded the die in his favor. Deucalion runs scenarios through his mind, thinking several moves ahead. Everything he does, he does for a reason and it almost seems like no matter what you do, it always ends up going according to plan.

He's an obsessive to a dangerous degree. When he desires something, he dwells on it. If he can't have it, he'll destroy it. Simple as that. He will work hard to acquire it, though, before he'll destroy it. The amount of work he'll put into acquiring it depends on just how hard it is to acquire the object of his desire. And nothing is 'too much' in his opinion. He has the patience of a saint. But even the devil was an angel once.

Deucalion isn't a 'bad guy' in the terms of a mindless killer. He's more of just someone who will do anything to get what he wants. He really has no problem if his methods are not quite morally parallel to the heroic type cliché that is the protagonist.

With his snarky wit, cold calculation, calm demeanor, and a chess champion's mind, Deucalion is a powerful force of supernatural nature.

Fears:
❧ Losing his Pack. Most Alphas care for their pack and would hate losing any one of them. Losing a member of your pack is like losing a limb.
❧ Becoming a monster. He is unaware of his future self, but all he wants is a peaceful world where loss is minimized.
❧ Losing his sight. Losing any of his senses would be a severe detriment to him.
❧ Being betrayed. He puts his trust in many, including his Pack and doesn't expect it to be betrayed.
❧ Losing his abilities. Nothing against humans, but he just would not be able to get used to it.
❧ Being alone or unneeded. He doesn’t want to be left behind.
❧ Watching those he trust and care for die. Being helpless to save them despite all his power.
❧ Facing a situation he cannot handle or not being in control of it.
❧ Letting his Pack/friends down.

Weaknesses:
Aconite: As a Teen Wolf werewolf, Wolfsbane is poisonous to him in virtually any form.
Rowan: He cannot cross a barrier made of Mountain Ash.
Hecatolite: Moonstone is a stone that blocks out moonlight. If sealed within a room of such a material for an extended period of time, sudden exposure to moonlight, or more importantly, the full moon, can cause a more rabid than normal reaction, even for a wolf with a secure anchor.
❧ Mistletoe: Another known poison.
❧ Electricity: Electrical currents are known to interrupt the functions of werewolves. For example, it can prevent wolves from shifting or keep them from healing. Different voltages have different effects. A skilled hunter knows how to use them to their advantage.
❧ Lunar Eclipse: Render him powerless until the moon's light reaches the Earth once more.
❧ Other Alphas: Wounds created by another Alpha take longer to heal.
❧ His Pack: He will do whatever he can to ensure those under his protection/care are safe. Even put himself in the way of a fatal attack.
❧ Overconfidence: He has a tendency to be overconfident. He has every right to be confident, but being too confident leads to a hearty fall.
❧ Somewhat Naïve: His naïveté leaves him open to be taken advantage of by anyone with a manipulative bone in their body. It makes him too trusting of people.
❧ Rage: Angering him to a certain degree will cause him to make reckless decisions.

Mundane Strengths/Abilities:
He is very perceptive, able to keep a calm mind and pay attention to details during tense situations. Like focusing on a heartbeat during a battle or picking up little clues about someone's personality or fears during a split second of weakness. He's strong, fast, and bright. Capable of fighting both with hand to hand skills, as well as certain weapons.

Sensitivity/Magical Ability:
Deucalion is a werewolf. He has the ability to shift to a more animal-like form with claws, glowing red eyes, and sharp teeth. He has superhuman strength, speed, and heightened senses. More than that, he's an Alpha, making his already enhanced skills that much stronger. He has the ability to turn humans if they don't die from the bite, (but I won't use that in-game unless given permission by both the other player and the mods.) Another perk of being a werewolf would be his healing factor. He recovers from wounds fairly quickly and possesses the ability to take someone else's pain away. He can sense other werewolves and even mask his own unique werewolf 'scent' from other wolves; a perk of being an Alpha. Yet another Alpha ability allows him to view and share memories by inserting his claws into the back of another wolf's neck. Alpha's even have a limited sort of telepathy with the betas they have turned. Their will can be imposed on the betas. They can also force their betas into submission via an Alpha yell/cry. They can locate eachother or call for help with a loud cry/howl.

His heightened senses probably allow him to pick up on certain things to a small degree. He might be able to sense spirits or ghosts, but not necessarily be able to see them.

Supply List:
Really, he doesn't keep any weapons with him. His werewolf abilities and his mind are his best weapons. But he should have the clothes on his back and likely a wallet containing his license and some money.

Game Transfers: NA?

Sample RP post:
The path before him is clear; the abandoned distillery. He walks with confidence, a lighthearted air about his person. He is on his way to make history. The day the Hunters and the Werewolves made a pact or at the very least, a ceasefire. Talia Hale and Allan Deaton doubt him. Well, not really him, but they doubt Gerard is the one with which to make this agreement. Mostly because they doubt he has the conscious self-preservation instincts to realize that this offer of peace is an ace idea for both sides. They seem to think his less than sympathetic nature will override his better judgment. How can they honestly have so little faith in people? It baffles him. Honestly, it isn't even for the fact that he thinks there has to be some good in the man, but more so that Gerard just can not be dense enough to ignore such an offer. A ceasefire! It would be beneficial to both of them, because if this war starts, the casualties will be so great on both sides, it could possibly wipe out both of them and leave nothing left in its wake.

As he's walking, a cold chill traces down his spine and raises his hackles. It causes him to briefly pause and glance around. It's then that he notices his three betas are nowhere to be found. Not that they strayed but almost as if they weren't even there from the beginning. There’s a stab of discomfort, because it’s certainly not fear, but it is most definitely disconcerting. Worry for his betas is quickly rising up in his chest and chilling the pit of his stomach. He isn't so much concerned for his own wellbeing, because he's an Alpha. But his betas are somewhat more vulnerable. He knows better than to call out their names. If there is something dangerous in his path, that will merely make himself more of a target than he already is.

Slowly, he turns, scanning his surroundings with careful crystal blue eyes, not missing a single detail. When nothing seems out of place, he lets his eyes take on a bright crimson glow, enhancing his vision and perception with supernatural aid. Even now, he still fails to find anything out of the ordinary. There is no trace of his betas as far as he can see, smell, or hear. If he didn’t know better, and he does, he would say they've just been erased from existence.

A different thought occurs to him, though. If they haven't been removed, maybe he has. It would make just as much sense as vanishing betas and a suddenly very different path than the semi-frequently traversed one taken to the distillery.

Deucalion allows his eyes to slip closed, focusing his hearing as far as it will stretch, but finds nothing. When they blink open again, they're back to a lovely clear blue, accompanied by a mild upturn of his lips.

"Well, it would seem that you have me at a slight disadvantage, but do not assume that removing me from my betas makes for an easy target. Since you separated me from the rest of my Pack intentionally, I can assume you know what I am. And if you know what I am, you should also know that I will not excuse you of any retaliation should any harm befall the members of my Pack. So, how this encounter will go is entirely up to you."
